THE GLITTER OF GOLD
Part Two

My dad and mom were staying in this prospectors cabin. They did not have permission to use it. They got wind that the owners were coming. So my mom and dad were making fast tracks to get out of there. My dad had put an aerial which was a copper wire between trees. Dad did not have time to climb to get it down. I had a 22 rifle. I shot down the aerial with the first shot. On the other tree dad tried to shoot down the aerial but he could not hit it Then I took the rifle and shot it down on the second shot. A fine copper wire is a very small target up in the trees.

Well from there we went to Seneca, which was a little ways from Quincy. All that was there was a gold mine, store, and a school house. There were six students and I was the seventh. It was from the first grade to the eighth grade. And of course one school teacher. I had gone to two or three schools every year. Big schools and small schools. This was the smallest school that I ever went to . The school teacher was very dedicated and loving. If you ever needed help she was right there. The biggest school I ever went to was in Lynnwood California. A teacher for each subject and if you needed help you never got it. So this school in Seneca is a very beautiful memory in my life.

Where we lived in Seneca, was an abandoned gold mine. There was an abandoned old house there. The bedroom was up stairs. You could see the Stars through the cracks between the wood shakes at night. An old gold miner that had this house must have never had a broom. Because there was a pathway through all the dirt and debris. Well mom had a big job cleaning up the place. In the process of cleaning she found a vial of gold. I can not remember what they got for it. As I was just a young teenager. You know how kids are, they are interested in different things.
